Glass Care

Thank you for your purchase!

Please read the below instructions on how to display and care for your new piece so that it lasts for years to come.

Cleaning and Care:

All of my stained glass pieces are made using the Tiffany (or copper foil) method. Care and maintenance is required for your piece to last and continue sparkling. Your piece should be dusted periodically with a soft microfiber or lint-free cloth. About once a year, you may buff and polish your piece using a little carnauba wax, or even plain ole' Turtle car wax works well. Do not use ammonia-based products (i.e. Windex) and do not submerge in water.

Solder & Patina

Solder is silver in color and will have been polished to a shine before arriving to you. Over time, it is normal for solder to start oxidizing. Whether you prefer the shine or oxidized look is up to you.

Some pieces will have black and/or copper patina applied to the solder to give it that black or copper finish before polishing. It is important to take extra care in handling pieces that have been patinaed as the patina can scratch easily.

Dichroic Glass & Glass Gems and Iridescent Glass

Dichroic glass and glass gems will give the appearance of changing colors in different lighting conditions and/or different angles.

Iridescent Glass has multi-colored opalescent look to the surface usually best seen in ambient lighting.

Extra care should be taken with pieces that have dichroic or iridescent glass and gems as the coating can be easily scratched.

Stained glass artwork is fragile and must be handled with care. Each piece is made with metal components to include small amounts of lead, so it is important to wash your hands after handling the piece and before touching your face or mouth. As with any piece of art, the least amount of touching and handling, the better!

Displaying:

Stained glass pieces can be hung in a window or on a wall.

If hanging in a window, DO NOT use suction cups. Pieces should be hung by a securely anchored point such as a hooks or loop hooks that screw into place. All of my artwork will come with soldered on loops for attaching chain or your chosen hanging material. All hanging loops on your piece should be utilized in order to ensure balanced weight distribution.

Plant & Garden Stakes

Plant stakes should be push into your pot by the rod and not by the glass to avoid breakage.
